He was shot behind the ear in what the coroner controversially ruled a suicide. Sources say that Jim Garrison — the crusading New Orleans District Attorney who unsuccessfully brought CIA associate Clay Shaw to trial for Kennedy’s murder — later told a journalist that Underhill had “valuable” intel on JFK’s death and he had wanted to interview him!
